Florie hosting Session One of Artists for Artists STL

On October 9, 2026, Florie opened the doors to something she had been dreaming about for a long time: Artists for Artists STL, a free creative community for St. Louis artists. Session One gathered writers, poets, musicians and visual artists at the Clark Family Branch of St. Louis County Library for an afternoon built around one simple belief: artists should not have to create alone.

A room built on creative safety

Session One focused on creative safety, the quiet work of continuing to make things when the inner critic gets loud. Through reflection prompts, honest conversation and introductions built around creative identity instead of job titles, the room went from strangers at 2:30 to friends by 4:30.

I started Artists for Artists because I know what it feels like to create alone. That afternoon, none of us did.

Sharing the work out loud

One of the afternoon's highlights came when artists began sharing the projects closest to them. A poet and painter passed around her poetry collection, Outcome Unknown, along with the children's books she has written. It was exactly what this community is meant to be: a place where sharing your work feels safe, celebrated and a little contagious.

Rooted in community

Artists for Artists STL is an initiative of Floriescence, the creative company Florie founded, and it continues the community work she has built through Echoes of Africa, from inspiring young minds at City Academy to empowering the ADAPT community. The mission stays the same: help artists grow, connect and get seen, together.

What's next

Session One was only the beginning. Future gatherings will bring workshops, collaboration labs and showcases for artists across every discipline in St. Louis.
