Florie Headlines The Dark Room STL with a Live Band

Florie is a genre-bending singer-songwriter whose music is as layered as her story. Raised between cultures, she fuses Afrobeats, R&B and Amapiano into something that resists easy labels, and her July 19, 2025 headline show at The Dark Room STL showed exactly why.
A history most artists never get
Descended from the line of H.R.H. Igwe Silas Ezenwa, Florie began her music journey in Lagos, Nigeria, where she signed with Storm Records in 2007 as a member of N-Jection, managed by Obi Asika and Tola Odunsi. The group opened for some of the biggest global Afrobeats stars, commanding major stages years before most artists find their footing. Back in St. Louis, N-Jection performed at the Festival of Nations for twelve consecutive years, building a cross-cultural following the honest way: through talent and presence.
The start of a new chapter
That history is why The Dark Room felt like a turning point rather than a debut. This was Florie returning as a solo artist and reclaiming a spotlight that has always fit her, backed for the first time in this chapter by a full live band and a DJ.

She performed three originals: "On One," "Wait" and "Prayers." "On One" and "Wait" are now streaming, moody and self-assured records that show off the vocal control and emotional restraint becoming signatures of her sound. "Prayers" is still unreleased, which gave the room a particular kind of electricity, the feeling of hearing something before the rest of the world does.
People who caught the show described an artist fully in command of her own story, someone who treats the stage as an invitation into a world she has built. Music as a vessel for healing, joy and storytelling is at the heart of how Florie sees her work. She is not only interested in being heard. She is creating a space, one show at a time, where audiences can feel something real.
