Echoes of Africa and Floriescence Empower the ADAPT Community

On April 14 and 15, 2025, Echoes of Africa partnered with Floriescence and the ADAPT program at Compass Health Network to bring an immersive cultural wellness experience to adults in St. Louis. The workshops blended cooking, storytelling, sensory art, guided meditation, music, dance and future-self mind mapping to create space for self-expression, connection and healing.
A visionary, hands-on approach
As co-founder of Echoes of Africa and founder of Floriescence, Florie combined creative strategy with hands-on cultural engagement. The team led participants through African-inspired music and dance, facilitated storytelling, guided creative mindfulness exercises and captured the workshops through photography and video.

Participants were excited to explore African cuisine, discovering flavors many had never tasted before. They learned traditional dances, shared stories and reflected on their goals, while Floriescence activities like plantain stamp painting invited them to dream big and create together.

Culture as care
The workshops showed how arts, wellness and cultural storytelling can support emotional health and self-discovery. Participants left with gratitude and a clear wish to keep taking part in future programs, a reminder of how much creative community programs can mean.
